Standard Certification and Fingerprinting

  1. Go to www.tea.state.tx.us and select “TEAL Login” at the top of the page.
  2. Enter your Username and Password.
    a. Select “View My Educator Certification Account” to continue.
  3. Review and verify all your account information (name, address, billing, demographics, etc). Follow instructions here if you need to update any information.
  4. Click “Applications” in the menu on the left, then “Standard Certificate Texas Program.”
    a. Read the requirements, then click “Apply for Certification.”
    b. Review the “Applicant’s Affidavit,” and respond to the questions:
    i. Have you ever been the subject of an arrest that has resulted in deferred adjudication, probation or a conviction?
    ii. Have you ever had a teaching certificate revoked, denied, suspended or subject to any sanctions in Texas or any other state?
    c. Select Your Entity and choose “Texas A&M University (University Based)” from the dropdown and check the verification & acknowledgement boxes.
  5. Submit Application:
    a. Review all information, then click “Apply.”
    b. Confirm the correct Entity, then click “Continue” to proceed to payment.
  6. *During the payment screen, you will be asked to pay for the fingerprint background check.
    a. After payment, you will be pre-enrolled, and IDentoGo will email you scheduling instructions. Look for an email from nobody@uemail.identoGo.com.

You can check your certificate and fingerprint status by logging into your TEAL account and clicking on “Application/Fee Status.” *If you have worked for a school district or charter school before as a non-certified employee, like a substitute teacher, your fingerprints may be on file. If they are, it will say “Fingerprint Complete.”

Once your certificate is approved, you can find it in your TEAL account under “View Certificates” or through the TEA’s Certificate Look-Up.
